Humble has announced their newest weekly bundle and it features a relatively older form of video game that has reached a resurgence this past year – the FMV. Probably best known in the form of crime thriller game Her Story, the FMV is a video assisted genre that uses actual video of live actors to tell the story.
This week’s bundle has a few different FMV games, and like all Humble Bundle’s they are tiered towards different price options. You have a “pay what you want” tier and a $5 tier, and you can choose where your money goes — the developers, Humble or charity. This week’s charities are the Wikimedia Foundation and SpecialEffect.
At the “Pay What You Want” option, you have four games.
Misssing: An Interactive Thriller Episode 1
This game is a throwback to 90′s FMV games and adds in elements of the classic adventure game. Backers will recieve episode 1 of this title, and not future titles.
7th Guest and 11th Hour Pack
This is actually two games from adventure game creator Trilobyte games, and are both horror titles. The 11th Hour is a sequel to the 7th Guest, so you’ll be able to finish the story if you purchase this Bundle.
Tex Murphy Complete Pack
A classic FMV title, you can get 3 science fiction private investigator games, including Tex Muprhy: Overseer, Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon, and Tex Murphy: the Pandora Directive.
Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure
If that wasn’t enough Tex Murphy FMV for your soul, then have no fear because there’s another Tex Murphy game in this pack. This one features fully explorable real-time 3D environments as well as full motion video, so it’s a bit of a different bag than the other Tex Murphy games.
If you pay $5 you’ll also receive these two games, which are part of a separate tier.
Roundabout is a 70′s B-movie as video game, featuring a steady cast of characters inside of a limousine. The folks at Roundabout have also contributed to a “Green Screen Challenge” being held on the Humble Bundle store page, and if you’re interested in the practical side of FMV and green-screen it could be fun.
Her Story is one of the most critically acclaimed games of last year, and is a crime thriller about uncovering the truth behind a murder through a series of video interrogation tapes. The games is presented with a unique computer interface and plays on nostalgia for both older computers and the FMV genre as a whole.
Interested in any of these titles? The Humble Weekly Bundle will be on sale for another week on their page. If you’re interested in FMV titles, then you might want to give this bundle a try.
